A four-step diagnostic ladder
- 1
Record the state
Platform, game version, mission, operator, last action, error text, and whether a reload reproduces it.
- 2
Protect the save
Exit normally if possible. Confirm cloud sync or make a platform-supported backup before deleting, repairing, or moving files.
- 3
Try the smallest reversible check
Restart the game, reload an earlier save, verify files, and remove unsupported overlays or mods one at a time.
- 4
Escalate with evidence
Use EA Help or the platform forum with reproduction steps. A video or exact save state is more useful than “it broke.”
Launch-week threads contain recurring reports, but recurrence does not prove that reinstalling, wiping settings, or editing files is safe or effective.
Deluxe Edition items are missing
- Create an Operator or Astromech. EA says the Deluxe items appear through the Character Databank after character creation.
- Open the Character Databank. Check the relevant appearance options rather than expecting a separate inventory drop.
- Wait 24 hours. EA explicitly recommends waiting and checking again if the items still have not appeared.
- Then contact EA Help. Include store receipt, platform account, purchase time, and the Databank screen.
Official: these steps come from the support banner on EA's Zero Company help article. Do not unlink platform accounts as an improvised fix.
An operator has 0 AP or the enemy turn will not advance
Launch-week search results surface repeated reports of newly recruited characters at 0 AP and turns where enemies do not act. We have not found an official root cause or universal fix.
Check the rules first
Review active effects, injuries, and the previous action so a legitimate AP spend is not mistaken for a lock.
Reload safely
Use the game's normal load flow and test the most recent earlier save. Record which state reproduces the problem.
Stop if it repeats
Do not keep overwriting the same slot. Preserve a reproducible save and report the mission, recruit, and action sequence.
Crashes, stutter, or low FPS
EA specifically calls out Resizable BAR for Intel Arc performance. Use the motherboard or PC manufacturer's instructions; BIOS changes are hardware-specific.
Preserve evidence and a recovery path
| Before | Why |
|---|---|
| Screenshot the slot and timestamp | Shows which state predates the issue. |
| Check cloud-sync status | A stale cloud copy can overwrite the local state. |
| Copy only with the game closed | A live process may still be writing. |
| Keep the original untouched | Every experiment should use a duplicate where the platform permits. |
| Never download a stranger's save | It can be incompatible, unsafe, or violate platform rules. |
